girlfriend on the moon is the brainchild of tess mueske. it began with a lex post in los angeles, california, in october 2020. within the span of months, the group was playing across los angeles and beyond - by the time the end of 2023 came around, they’d embarked on a west coast, a southwest, and a nationwide tour, released an EP, a music video, and several singles, garnering support across the united states.

drawing inspiration from Soccer Mommy, Lucy Dacus, Indigo de Souza, and Searows, girlfriend on the moon’s sound is melancholy yet grungy, thoughtful yet relatable.

now based out of madrid, spain, girlfriend on the moon is working on their first full-length album, counting my blessings, to be released early 2027.
